Chives

« The Chinese chive is a simple yet remarkable plant. Its long green leaves and white flowers are often used in Asian cuisine for their delicate aroma. When I tasted a fresh stem for the first time, I was surprised by its strong onion-like flavor, more intense than I had imagined. » Text and photo by Lucas

Nettles

The nettle is often seen as the unwanted child of the garden. However, it has many benefits for nature and human as it nourishes the body and strengthens the blood. When summer comes, the nettle unfolds delicate flowers, calling to bees and butterflies. After many attempts in my childhood, this was the first time I managed to eat a leaf without being stung. Melons

I took a picture of these two melons because they attracted my attention with their small size (and all that is small is cute). But most importantly they reminded me of the summer holidays and all the moments of happiness with my friends and family.  Text and photo by Chloé.

Come back again

Everyone knows that strawberries grow during summer…but we are almost in October and here they are. Maybe those strawberries lose themselves in the dance of seasons or they are just following their own calendar. I only have one wish… please let me try them and taste them. Planting for the Future

The We Are What We Eat students planted flower bulbs today, which we hope will be visible for everyone walking to Coriolis next February, bringing early spring cheer.

Wayside flowers

I choose this photo because I really liked the little flowers by the wayside. They bring colors in this garden. It reminds the nature grow naturally everywhere it can. Text and photo by Typhaine.

Free time

I’m looking at a rotten tomato. Although it still looks juicy, I wouldn’t eat it. Next to it, there are small colourful plants. I don’t know what they are. However, they’re really cute. I’m still looking for snails but I don’t find any for now. Maybe it’s not rainy enough. Now let’s talk about that tree with these small pointy fruits. Their texture is quite funny and although it doesn’t look like so when you look from far away, it’s quite gluey in it. It is super hard too.
Now I just took a bite in an apple. It was good, but it’s a little too acidic. Therefore, I put it in the recycling thing for a compost.
Now let’s take a look at these little bushes. They look like really tiny Christmas trees but at the same time they are much smaller and seem to grow differently in terms of roots. I come from the south of France (Provence) and it reminds me of the small bushes we have in the hills where I go to run.
I love the fact that we are going in the garden to be closer to nature, especially after so many yeas in prépa where I didn’t have the time to pay attention to such things.
Thank you teacher for suggesting us to take apples to make apple sauce. Although I haven’t made it yet, I found recipes online to make some. I just need to free up some time to do so. Text and photo by Baptiste.

Fall flowers

« Some flowers are surprising us by blooming in fall instead of spring. » Text and photo by Antoine.

Hylotelephium telephium

While walking around the garden, I noticed some flowers that truly caught my eye. Their name is Hylotelephium telephium. I loved the vibrant pink color, which stands out so beautifully against the green leaves surrounding them. I also admire how the different plants work together to create such a colorful and lively scene. Text and photo by Emilie.
